Welcome to Wahadachi Judo, Milwaukee's premiere judo club. For almost 30 years students of all ages and backgrounds have come to learn judo from Sensei James Peterson and the other dedicated instructors at the club.

What is Judo?

Judo is a martial art and Olympic sport created in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano. Competitive judo does not involve punching or kicking, instead emphasizing throws, pins, submission holds (+13 yrs. only) and arm locks (+17 years only). Striking techniques and other self defense tactics are practiced in traditional choreographed forms, or kata.

Is Judo safe?

Judo is among the safest of all contact sports . As a martial art and Olympic sport, judo is governed by the International Judo Federation (IJF), which has set strict safety guidelines for competition. The instructors at Wahadachi have decades of experience in providing a safe, rewarding judo experience for students with many different goals and ambitions, from general fitness to national and international competition.
